John H. Fitzpatrick - Non-Executive Chairman

  John H. Fitzpatrick is the Non-Executive Chairman of Oak Family Advisors, LLC (“OFA”) and Chairman of Oak Street Management Co. (“OSMC”), an insurance and management consulting firm. On May 11, 2011, he was elected to the board of directors at American International Group, Inc. (AIG). From September 2015 to September 2017, Mr. Fitzpatrick was Chairman and Partner of White Oak Global Advisors, LLC.

From June 2012 to May 2014 Mr. Fitzpatrick served as the Secretary General of The Geneva Association, the leading international think tank of the insurance industry.

From July 2006 to June 2010, Mr. Fitzpatrick was a partner and a Director of Pension Insurance Corporation Holdings, LLP and its fully authorized insurance subsidiary Pension Insurance Corporation Ltd., a leader in the provision of pension insurance in the United Kingdom with over £16bn in assets under management insuring c.130,000 pension fund members.

From July 1998 to April 2006 he was a member of Swiss Re Group’s Executive Board and Executive Board Committee. He served Swiss Re as the company’s Chief Financial Officer (“CFO”) from July 1998 to March 2003, Head of Life & Health Business Group April 2003 to September 2005 and Head of Financial Services October 2005 to April 2006. During his tenure as Chief Financial Officer, Mr. Fitzpatrick was responsible for the strategic asset allocation of the companies’ investment portfolio which totaled over $150 billion.

From January 1996 to June 1998 Mr. Fitzpatrick was a Senior Managing Director of Insurance Private Equity firms for the Zurich Insurance Group, Swiss Re and Credit Suisse, focusing on start-ups of insurance companies.

From January 1990 to December 1995 he was Chief Financial Officer and a member of the Board of Directors of Kemper Corporation, a NYSE-listed financial services company based in Chicago. At Kemper, Mr. Fitzpatrick was responsible for the strategic asset allocation of the companies’ investment portfolio which totaled $12 billion. Mr. Fitzpatrick started his career with Kemper Corporation as a financial analyst in 1978, holding several positions in corporate finance until 1990.

Mr. Fitzpatrick is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) (1987), a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) (1979, non-practicing) and has a BBA from Loyola University of Chicago (BBA) (1979). He is a citizen of the U.S.A. and the Republic of Ireland.

Mr. Fitzpatrick was a member of the Board of the Association of British Insurers from 2003 to July 2006, a Director on the Board of Atradius N.V., a credit insurer from 2005 to 2007 and a director of Validus Holdings, LTD, a NYSE-listed Bermuda-based Reinsurer from February 2010-March 2011.

Terrence S. Wilson - Chief Executive Officer/Co-CIO

  Terrence Wilson is Chief Executive Officer and Co-Chief Investment Officer of Oak Family Advisors, LLC.

He received his BS degree in Engineering from the University of Illinois in 1985, and then spent 12 years in the telecommunications industry. Terry left the telecommunications field in 1997 to pursue an MBA degree in Finance from the University of Chicago, which he received in 1998.

Terry began working in the financial industry in 1999 as an Associate Equity Analyst for Lincoln Capital Management, a large cap growth fund manager. His initial responsibilities included
research support for the firm’s senior industrial analyst and were followed by primary research coverage of the energy sector.

In 2002, Terry joined CMF Capital Management, a multi-cap long/short hedge fund, as an equity analyst and was responsible for a variety of industrial and applied technology sectors in the fund.

Terry joined Bufka & Rodgers, (now part of Mid-Continent Capital, L.L.C.) in June 2004 as a Senior Investment Analyst and Portfolio Manager and became a Vice President/Principal in 2008. Terry joined Oak Family Advisors, LLC in December 2011. Terry is also a Chartered Financial Analyst. 

Charles M. Sloan - President / Co-CIO

  Charles M. Sloan joined Oak Family Advisors, LLC on April 1, 2016 as President and Co-Chief Investment Officer.

Mr. Sloan is a seasoned investment analyst and portfolio manager. After working as a staff auditor with the firm of Arthur Andersen & Co. from 1988-1990, Charlie began working in the financial industry in 1990 at Harris Trust and Savings Bank, a subsidiary of Bank of Montreal, in trust administration and asset management. He then worked for Holland Capital Management (HCM) as a senior equity analyst from 2000-2001 and again from 2003-2005. Between 2001-2003, Charlie worked for Bufka & Rodgers, LLC (now part of Mid-Continental Capital, LLC) as a Portfolio Manager, and returned in 2005 as an Executive Vice President and Portfolio Manager where he worked until March of 2015. Most recently he served as Interim CFO for Forward Health Group, a Population Healthcare software company in Madison, Wisconsin.

Charlie attended Northern Illinois University on an athletic golf scholarship where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1988, with a major in accountancy. He then passed the CPA exam and met all licensing qualifications. In 1998, Charlie received his MBA, with honors, from the University of Chicago's Booth School of Business, and he is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).

Mr. Sloan has been an Adjunct Instructor at the University of Chicago's Graham School, teaching a course in Securities and Financial Markets for more than a decade. Outside of these endeavors, Charlie enjoys golfing, tennis, windsurfing and yoga.

Kathleen A. Helminski - Manager

  Kathleen A. Helminski is the Manager, Client Service and Operations of Oak Family Advisors, LLC.

Kathy began working in the financial industry in 1976 in the Trust Department of Harris Trust and Savings Bank where she worked until 1982. She joined Bufka & Rodgers (now part of Mid-Continent Capital LLC) in 1988 and became an integral part of the operations staff for 25 years specializing in portfolio reporting, trade settlement and client service. She was most recently Vice President – Client Service and Operations at Mid-Continent Capital before joining Oak Family Advisors in October 2013.

Kathy has an Associate’s Degree in Applied Science - Financial Services and a Financial Management Certificate from Harper College.
